Nerang – Gold Coast Pathway Zen practice Group
Everyone is welcome to join us – simply come along – both beginners and experienced meditators.
Traditional silent Zazen (meditation)
Mats, cushions, and stools are provided.
Clothing – if you can, then wear, modest looser clothing with dark or muted colours.
Room is airconditioned.
Plenty of free parking is available.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for an on-time 7pm start.
Monday evening Zazen (meditation)
7.00-8:30pm 3 x 25 minutes of silent meditation interspersed by walking meditation.
7.00-7.30pm Introduction to Zen for newcomers in a separate room.
7.30-8.30pm Dokusan or private interview with our Zen teacher James Emmett if requested.
8.30-9.00pm Tea (optional).
During the last week of the month, a dharma talk or Teisho will be given, in lieu of the last meditation.
Each fourth Saturday of the month – Zenkai – daylong meditation

Monday evening – Introductory Lecture series
Starting Monday the 30th of March is a series of 5 introductory lectures over 5 weeks.
Each lecture lasting about one hour, followed by 25 minutes of Zazen (meditation).
Please arrive by 6.45 pm for a 7 pm start.
30th March – Lecture one is: a Why do we start meditating, what is Zen, short History of Zen Buddhism, Meditation techniques and postures.
6th April – Lecture two is: Conditions for meditation, the three aim of Zen – Joriki, Kensho and Integration.
13th April – Lecture three is: The four noble truths, the three-fold pathway – ethics, concentration and wisdom.
20th April – Lecture four is: The hindrance and obstructions to practice, Makyo, and degrees of Aspiration.
27th April – Lecture five is: The three essentials of Zen – great faith, great doubt and great determination, the teacher student engagement (Dokusan), and Koans.
